2018 YWCA of the Niagara Frontier Domestic Violence Awareness Luncheon. Guest Speaker: Troy Vincent
Our 2018 domestic violence luncheon presented by the YWCA Advisory Council will feature key note speaker Troy Vincent, former NFL player and current Executive Vice President of Football Operations for the NFL. Troy's commitment to leadership over violence has anchored him as a nationally recognized voice for those who have none or struggle to be heard. As a humanitarian and powerful advocate in the national campaign against domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse, Troy is a servant leader, demonstrated by his visits to shelters, speaking to men's groups and challenging others to lend their platforms.
For 35 years, the Alternatives to Domestic Violence program of the YWCA of the Niagara Frontier provides comprehensive residential and non-residential services to domestic violence survivors and their children living in the Eastern Niagara County area. The overall goal of the program is to provide specialized services and advocacy to address the unique circumstances of the victim of domestic violence. Services are designed to empower the victim to make the transition from victim to survivor. While the primary focus is to help ensure the victim s safety and security, comprehensive services assist the victim and her children overcome obstacles, become self-sufficient, restore support systems and self confidence to live free from violence. Current programs and services include: Safe Dwelling, 24-hour Hotline, Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Kidstrong Children's Therapeutic Support Group, Lockport Police Departement Follow Up Advocacy Program and Child Protective Services Advocacy, Educational Outreach Program, Community Outreach, and Transitional Housing.
