32nd Annual UT NROTC Alumni Reunion
NOTE: Friday night and Golf changes. Since 1985 alumni from the Naval ROTC unit at the University of Texas have been getting together annually to visit with old classmates and shipmates to swap sea stories, have some good Texas BBQ, go root for the home team and recognize the next generation of Navy and Marine Corps officers who follow in our wake and who will, shortly, be alumni themselves. We've always tried to make it fun with adding extra activities for this special weekend over the years. This year we start on Thursday night with the Navy League dinner at the Austin Women's Club. Friday we begin with a golf scramble in the morning, pitting Navy against the Marine Corps in a best ball match at Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course this year. This should be a new experience for our golfers. In the afternoon there is a Crow's Nest meeting at the hotel. That night we will change things up a bit this year. There will be a social gathering at the hotel for all the alumni and their guests. There is no charge for this event. Our alumni awards ceremony, that used to be on Friday night at the Austin Country Club, will be moved to the spring or some other more appropriate time and place. Saturday is the main event day with presentation of scholarships to our midshipmen and officer candidates. We do not know when the football game starts this year so Saturday's schedule is only planned around an assumed 2:30 kick-off. Our BBQ price has gone up but, remember, it is because we are treating Battalion members to this event. Also note that, if you pay at the door this year, the cost will be higher. Check our website, www.utnrotcalum.org for any changes. Those are all the planned activities. Classes that would like to make special plans are encouraged to use our website to get the word out. Sign up early so you don't miss anything. Some events and other items are limited in availability. This will be our fifth year using online registration. We hope it will provide you with a bit more convenient method (or certainly an alternate method) of registering. Have fun!
