Tarangini School of Kathak Dance celebrates its 20th anniversary with an evening of two exciting and yet, completely different Kathak productions.
The first part is called Yatra. This is a collage of music from around the world, woven together by the common thread of Kathak. The world music includes Western Classical, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Irish, African, Caribbean, Latin, Middle Eastern and Indian. It has been a challenging and a rewarding experience to create this confluence of different world music and traditional dance. The production showcases all Tarangini students.
The second part of the show is a traditional Kathak choreography called "Rasa and Nayika". It portrays the nine Rasa's (the fundamental emotions) through Krishna's life and the eight emotional love situations of Radha, the Ashtanayika. The production weaves together a beautiful mix of song, music and narration. Anuradha is excited to be able to join her principal dancers on stage to present this new creation.
