Los De Abajo (Mexico City) en vivo!
The Mexican band Los De Abajo celebrates its 25th anniversary of musical trajectory and with it the reunion of its original members.
The unique section of metals fused with mestizo rock gives them a salsa flavor with doses of punk, funk, rap, reggae, cumbia, merengue, are jarocho and even polka, characterized by being one of the most important groupings of the genre world music, rock and national and international ska.
In these 25 years, Los De Abajo have had different musicians who have contributed their own label to the band. For this great celebration the members of the first stage of the group return: Líber Terán (voice and guitar), Yocu Arellano (drums), Alberto Castillo (guitars) Javier Zúñiga (percussion), Mayumi Toyoda( choirs), Damián Portugal (saxophones), Carlos Cortés (Bass)
With this formation Los De Abajo conquered the circuit of world music and they became one of the Mexican groups with the greatest presence abroad, where they played in almost the entire European continent, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Japan and part of Asia.
They entered the international market thanks to David Byrne, ex-vocalist of the Talking Heads, who signed them on their own label Luaka Bop and suggested that their music should be called "salsa punk". Their second album called "CyberTropic Chilango Power", released in 2002, led them to win the Best Group of the Americas award at the World Music Awards of the BBC in London in 2003.
In his career, there are 9 studio albums and 18 international tours in more than 50 countries. This has allowed them to have a broad social and musical congruence, and to transcend the international scene, obtaining absolute respect from followers and colleagues. Los De Abajo is part of the musical culture in Mexico.
