Ark of Taste Farm to Table Dinner

Slow Food Western Slope invites you to attend a 4-course Ark of Taste farm to table fundraising dinner on Saturday of Mountain Harvest Festival, Sep 29, 6pm. Our featured chef, Kyle Mendenhall, started the Kitchen in Boulder and Denver and currently works at Arcana in Boulder. Chef Kyle has been to the North Fork Valley on a number of occasions and uses products from the area, especially produce from Mark Waltermires Thistle Whistle Farm in Hotchkiss.
Mark is participating in Slow Food USAs Plant a Seed campaign, a biodiversity effort that includes the Three Sisters seeds of beans, corn and squash that when planted together, help one another thrive and survive. Plus, these seeds are on the Slow Food Ark of Taste, a living library of delicious and distinctive foods facing extinction.
Biodiversity supports a happier, healthier planet with better soils, resilient plants, and beneficial insects. It also gives us a wonderful array of new flavors! Mark will be harvesting the Three Sisters plus other Ark of Taste produce for the dinner. We will be including local wines and goat on the menu as well..
Proceeds of the event will support our chapters efforts to promote seed saving and swapping and Delta Countys Seed Library.
