Another helpful parent training brought to you by California Autism Center & Learning Group!
Deborah L. Pepaj, Esq. will facilitate this in-depth training. The class will examine the protections extended to special education students under IDEA and the right of the school to subject them to the same disciplinary actions allowed for all students. We will outline the discipline provisions of IDEA to give parents a thorough understanding of the conditions for disciplining special education students preferably before their child is the focus of such actions.

Speaker Bio:
Deborah L. Pepaj, Esq. an active member of the State Bar of CA and is also admitted to practice in CA Central and Eastern Federal District Courts, and the 9th Circuit court of Appeals. She was a founding member of Student Rights Advocates and Student Rights Attorneys, in Pasadena, CA, but recently relocated to the Fresno area and, as a sole practitioner, works exclusively on Special Education matters. She worked as a parent trainer for Team of Advocates for Special Kids (TASK), the federally mandated parent training and information (PTI) center in Anaheim, CA, which covers multiple counties, and was a participant in the OC Department of Education Autism Collaborative.
She has been a consultant for various organizations including PATTAN (PA training & technical assistance. network) autism trainings, the U.S. Department of Forestry for disability awareness trainings, and to OC Autism. She has also been a frequent presenter on Special Education topics for various autism groups, Down syndrome associations, Kinship Council, multiple regional centers, foster care associations, Kern County Exceptional Family Center, and SCDD. She has received rave reviews as a trainer/presenter and is excitedly anticipating working on this project.
