Hoophouse Versatility for the Permaculture-Inspired Grower
This workshop aims to teach, promote, and inspire backyard gardeners and other small-scale growers to design and build their own hoophouses to diversify, extend and protect seasonal harvests in mercurial New England in an age of climate disruption. Well cover the basics about structure location, site preparation, sourcing materials, and construction. We'll also talk about maintenance for maximum versatility and productivity around the seasons. And, of course, we'll talk about creative ways to use the greenhouse through the seasons. Well tour and examine the tunnels at Laughing Dog Farm before breaking for snacks and Q & A under the kiwi arbor.
Daniel Botkin is the owner/operator of Laughing Dog Farm, a community- oriented permaculture backyard farm and teaching space in Gill, Massachusetts. Daniel teaches regularly at his farm and in community spaces on the topics of seed saving, guerilla gardening, permaculture food production and community-centered food security.
