Special Benefit Kirtan Fundraiser for Michael Hahn and Elizabeth Rainey
Shantala and Gina Sala are honored to be presenting a Special Benefit Kirtan Fundraiser for our beloved friends Michael Hahn and Elizabeth Rainey.
Michael and Rainey have been together for 17 years. For 19 years, they have worked as healers in the Seattle community. Michael is a passionate and gifted hands-on therapist working with newborns and adults and Rainey is an advanced yoga therapist working in class and private settings while also going to school for somatic psychology. Last October, Michael had a medical procedure meant to help with chronic low back pain. Unfortunately, the following day his body began to have significant and mysterious neurological symptoms which in turn lead to a high level of anxiety. As a result, Michael has not been able to work since December and they have spent their entire savings meeting their medical costs and monthly bills. Thank you for your support!
100% of proceeds will go directly to our friends who have given SO much to our community. We will be posting additional details and ticket links soon!
Sliding scale donation $20-$100+
The practice of kirtan is infused with love. It is a powerful doorway into the lifelong practice of transforming ourselves into loving human beings, brings us into greater union with the Beloved that dwells inside us and beyond. In a very unique and personal way, we have the possibility through chanting to touch the deepest, most tender parts of being human and the sacred pulse of the Universe.
Benjy and Heather Wertheimer have been leading kirtan (sacred chanting) worldwide since 2001 as the duo Shantala. They are known for their special gift of bringing the audience into a vast and loving experience through their unique blend of exquisite voices with instruments of India and the West. Together they create music with beauty, passion, and reverence. Heather and Benjy have released five beautiful and well-loved albums of sacred chant music since 2003, including Living Waters, Jaya, LIVE in love, Sri, and The Love Window.
Shantala has performed and recorded internationally with such sacred music luminaries as Krishna Das, Deva Premal & Miten, and Jai Uttal. They were named as one of the top Kirtan Wallahs to Watch by Yoga + Joyful Living Magazine.
About Gina Salà:
Filled with a love for the One Divine known through many forms and names, Gina Sal leads regular interfaith, participatory chanting (kirtan) evenings as a pathway to awakening to our unity and wholeness. Gina began devotional (bhakti) chanting to the Divine and mantra in different traditions at age 3 living in a hindu ashram in Canada with Swami Sivananda Radha. She deepened her practices in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery (Kopan Gompa) in Nepal in 1992. Gina spent several months solo in the Himalaya, and emerged to meet her advaita Guru, Papaji (HWL Poonjaji) who was in the lineage of Sri Ramana Maharshi. She has continued "diving deeper" into direct experience of the Self, and sharing experiences that help us Remember Who we are.
