South Indian Rhythm Workshop
Using the voice and hands, participants will enter the world of rhythmic practice and theory as found in South India classical music (aka Carnatic music). No previous experience necessary. No instruments necessary. Suitable for ages 7 and up (must able to sit still, listen and concentrate). Participation is expected but not mandatory.
This workshop will be led by Dr. Trichy Sankaran, a percussion virtuoso who has been instrumental in spreading the knowledge and awareness of South Indian classical music since 1971, in North America and around the world.
