Yes Anding the Pilot (With Matt Schlissel)
A course that uses improv to learn the art of television screenwriting.
There is a significant crossover between improv and screenwriting both worlds use similar techniques to create well defined characters, emotional points of view, natural dialogue, and engaging stories based on a strong foundation of structure. This course is for those who are new to screenwriting and wanting to tackle their first pilot, as well as those who have a few scripts under their belt.
In six weeks, each class being three hours, students will develop a television pilot from concept to first draft. They will also be given the necessary tools to continue writing and rewriting on their own.
The first half of each class will be devoted to an improv technique or exercise that will illustrate an important principle of television screenwriting. We will then spend the second half of each class workshopping each students pilot (pitches, outlines, and pages).
