8th Annual KRWA Pirate Paddle
Check-in and walk-up registrations start at 9:00 am at Castaways and will end at approximately 11:30 am.
In the morning, you will drop your kayak of at Steih Park in Kawkawlin (on Monitor Road) and then drive to Castaways. We will provide transportation back to the park so your vehicle will be at Castaways when youre done. We will have someone at the park keeping an eye on everyones vessels. *You MUST have a Personal Flotation Device on your vessel.
You MUST check-in at Castaways and then get to Steih Park as soon as possible to keep the transportation open to late arrivals. Once the event kicks off (12:00 sharp), you will kayak down the river, picking up envelopes at different stops along with way. Each envelope will contain a coin. DO NOT OPEN YOUR ENVELOPES.
Once you get back to Castaways, please move your kayak away from the launch area where we will be pulling kayaks out. You will then need to go to the Coin Table where our volunteers will open your envelopes to see if you have any gold coins. Regular coins are a black/bronze color, these are not eligible for prizes. Coins eligible for prizes are a shiny gold color. For each gold coin you have you will receive one ticket. If you have a gold coin, you are not guaranteed a prize, we will only draw tickets for the amount of prizes we have.
We will have porta-potties and garbage cans at several of our stops.
Dinner is included with your registration. There will be a cash bar for beverages. *Once your kayak is pulled out of the river any alcoholic beverages MUST stay in your cooler.
This is a family event, although we discourage small children from participation. Please be respectful to your fellow kayakers and property owners along the river. We are on our 8th year of hosting a fun event with minimal issues.
Kayaking from Steih Park to Castaways at a good pace takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. This is not a race and there is no prize for being the first one back. Many property owners along the river participate in the event. Please have fun with them, pick up a treat if they are providing one, and BE RESPECTFUL!
Food will start at 2:30 pm.
Prizes will start at 3:30 pm. If you do not get your coins turned in before the drawing starts you will not be eligible for prizes.
$20 Early Bird Registration (until 6/3) INCLUDES dinner and t-shirt!
$25 General Admission (after 6/3) INCLUDES dinner and a t-shirt (if available, t-shirt not guaranteed).
* T-shirts will be ordered after Early Bird Registration ends, we will be ordering extra but cannot guarantee enough for registrations after 6/3.
If you are registering from a cell phone please email kawkawlinriver@gmail.com with the names of your participants (if more than one) and t-shirt sizes. Per our ticket provider, this feature is disabled on cell phones/tablets.
