Part of the Loading Dock Arts Education Series, we are pleased to present, Beatrice Coron, worldwide artist.
Using historical traditions, we will take a modern, exciting approach to paper cutting. We will create black and white paper cut, popup, color collage and a wearable scarf. We will cover specific techniques and methods for papercutting and demonstrate stenciling. During this intensive class of serious fun, participants will discover the incredible variety of the contemporary papercutting scene and the many possible applications of this art form to other domains. Tips, tricks, and resources will be provided. All levels. No experience needed.
BIO
Born in France, BĂ©atrice Coron lived in Egypt, Mexico, and China before moving to New York. Coron tells stories in illustrations, book arts, fine arts and public art. She adapts her papercut designs in metal, stone, and glass. The output is numerous but the creative process starts with a story, then a papercut. Coron's paper cuttings were shown at Slash at the Museum of Arts & Design and she spoke about her creative process at TED 2011. You can see her work in major collections such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Walker Art Center and her public art in subways and airports as well as in low-income housing for fences and window guards.
