A follow up to the Project Moves Dance Company's groundbreaking hit shows accept ME, Let it Be, One Human Race, and RETHINK, this mixedarts, multimedia event celebrates the ever-challenging journey to self-love and self-respect.
According to the Center for Disease Control, nearly 1 in 6 high school students has seriously considered suicide, 1 in 12 has attempted it, and every 90 minutes a teenager or young adult is successful. These statistics are real...
I AMwhen being yourself is enough is our way of joining the cause to eradicate these statistics. Everyone deserves to know they are valuable, unique, and worthy. Everyone deserves to celebrate who they are, just as they are.
I AMwhen being yourself is enough weaves a series of stories together into a fabric of vivid, rich human emotion -- from the warm memories of innocence, to the devastating effects of not "fitting in." You will laugh, you will cry, and you will leave the theatre with a renewed sense of hope.
This inspiring evening will also feature 16-year-old folk singer Hayley Reardon. It's hard to identify what's more impressive: the fact that she's already considered a seasoned folk artist or that she's a national spokesperson for PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. Hayley was recently featured in the Boston Globe Magazine as one of 2012 Bostonians of the Year.
About the company: Project Moves Dance Company, Inc is a 501 (c) (3) company dedicated to generating positive social change through dance art. The company has been honored to bring their passionate message of hope to one of N.Y.C.'s most prestigious dance venues the Joyce Theater, The Fire Island Dance Festival, and numerous theaters and high schools throughout New England and New York. They were also featured on ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
