Immersive Education Series- Dissecting the Devising Process: Movement and Text with Ceaseless Fun

What is devised theater? How does one start devising? Participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on training in gestural movement and text-based devising. This 3-hour course will be a general survey of CF's various devising methods, and aims to provide both practical skills and a conceptual jumping-off point for participants of all skill levels. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

Meredith Bio:
Meredith is an experience producer and director in Los Angeles, specializing in immersive/interactive theater and large scale live events. As the creative producer of Ceaseless Fun, she has produced They Who Saw the Deep (2018) and Agnosia (2018). She made her directorial debut with Grief in 2017. Previously, she served as the managing director of play collaborative arts, a collaborative performing and healing arts venue in the heart of the Arts District Downtown Los Angeles - producing such shows as Retrograde, Erotica, TinyRhino and Ugly Shots.

Derek Bio:
Derek Spencer is an LA-based director, writer, and producer of immersive productions. As the founding artistic director of Ceaseless Fun, he has directed productions such as They Who Saw the Deep (2018), Agnosia (2018), Why I Want to Fuck Ronald Reagan (2017), and Grandpa Johnson is DEAD! (2016). His directorial debut in Chicago was A Crackup at the Race Riots (University Theater, 2014). His written work has been commissioned for various short play events including Ugly Rhinos Tiny Rhino LA series, Montserrats Renditions as well as their Loft Series, and more. Derek is a member of the founding committee for the League of Experiential and Immersive Arts.

Dereks work as a director is almost exclusively devised. He started as a performer in devised productions in Chicago, and now centers his devising process around collaging and processing text, with a healthy dose of Viewpoints on the side.
