Perspectives: Anxiety Management Workshop for Kids, Sandy Springs
What it's all about: We live in a world where more children struggle with anxiety than ever before. Anxiety can manifest in obvious or subtle ways in children and may not even be initially understood as anxiety. For instance, anxiety most often looks like avoidant behavior but also manifests quite often as oppositional or combative behavior. Leaning to understand their own anxiety and being taught tools to handle it better gives children who struggle with anxiety much needed support to begin to manage the intensity of anxiety.
If you have a child you would like to support in managing anxiety, this workshop can be a great place to do some work on that through fun and creative activities and interactions. Parents will be emailed a lesson from the participants in the form of a video the children will produce as part of the workshop.
Facilitated by: Michelle Shlafman, MS, APC
Ticket: $35.00 (includes materials)
Parent Workshop Option What it's all about: This optional workshop runs simultaneously with the kids workshop and provides parents information and strategies for dealing with anxiety their children and/or in themselves. Parents will be exposed to the tools the children will be learning so they can more easily model and support the use of these tools at home.
Facilitated by: Belinda Lee, MS, APC
Ticket: $35.00 (for an individual parent) $50.00 (for parent & child)
