We are a grassroots organisation, working from the ground up to support our young people to build their confidence and resilience by learning new skills in a positive and supportive environment.
HOW MUCH IS IT? The standard ticket price of £50 covers the whole 2 day event from 10am - 4pm both days and includes food and warm drinks, tools and equipment. Overnight camping is available for an extra £10 and covers an evening meal and breakfast. ALL FUNDS RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE WORK WE DO WITH VULNERABLE YOUNG PEOPLE IN SOUTH-WEST EDINBURGH.
WHERE IS IT?
The Youth Vision base is at Threipmuir farmstead in the Pentland Hills, just outside Edinburgh. The farmstead is located on the north-eastern section of Threipmuir reservoir, at the end of the causeway which runs between the Threipmuir and Harlaw reservoirs. By car it is easiest to park at the public car park by Harlaw Visitor Centre, then walk around Harlaw reservoir and on to the farmstead. Travelling by bus, the number 44 bus from Edinburgh takes you all the way to the Balerno bus depot, from where you can walk uphill towards the Threipmuir reservoir car park and walk from there. Signs will point you in the correct direction on the day!
WHO IS THE EVENT FOR?
Anyone who is interested in dry stone walling and rural crafts and wants to learn/share some new skills.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Warm, waterproof clothes and footwear (preferably steel toe caps) could well be essential, this being the fantabulous Scottish hills! A tent and sleeping bag if camping overnight. Additional refreshments you may require . . . a willingness to get involved and to have a good time!
