Kauai Voices Rocks!
Celebrating the popular music genre of rock and roll, Kauai Voices the islands highly popular, auditioned 40-plus voice choral ensemble will present concerts of timeless rock and roll music on Friday and Saturday June 15 and 16 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, January 17 at 3 PM at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue.
We will deliver the heart of rock n roll to our audiences, said Randy Leonard, Kauai Voices artistic director, explaining that this popular music originated in the United States in the 1950s, with roots in gospel, blues, jazz, Afro-American, boogie, and country music. This music influenced language, attitudes, lifestyles and politics, including the civil rights movement, Leonard noted.
Performing music from 1957 to 1989, Kauai Voices will feature the songs of such beloved musicians as The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Queen, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The B-52s, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, and more! The 40-plus Kauai Voices singers along with a stellar instrumental rock ensemble will perform iconic songs such as Fly Like An Eagle, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway To Heaven, and other great rock and roll hits.
We will rock you! promises Leonard, who has more than 35 years of experience directing vocal and choir groups. The energy is high and we have a fantastic lineup of amazing music.
