Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company presents the premiere of Strange Dreams: 30 Years Later
Strange Dreams is Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company (AMM & DCO) newest full-length creation. This multimedia production features ten professionally-trained dancers, inventive choreography, outlandish props, constructed costumes and a genre defying soundscore consisting of Gusli music, text and poetry, ambient soundscapes, as well as contemporary and classical music. Conceived and choreographed by Artistic Director, Anne-Marie Mulgrew, Strange Dreams tackles dream-like states - the sensations, memories, colors and sounds in a stream of consciousness format. Dreams appear, disappear, and continue to haunt the dreamer who questions the logic of it all. This 12-section work aspires to enchant, excite and inform audiences. Join us in our whimsical and at times contemplative adventure through unknown realms of the imagination where anything is possible. Strange Dreams is reaction of sorts to the political and social realities we face today and (wo)man's need to dream, heal and celebrate the resilience and joyfulness of the human spirit.
Company dancers include LaNise Ambrose, Sean Thomas Boyt, Alissa Johann, Kate Lombardi, Leslie Ann Pike, Jorge Rullan, and Olivia Wood plus cameo appearances by Joseph Cicala, Anne-Marie Mulgrew and guest artist Ashley Searles.
Critics applauded AMM & DCOs work: as ever-full of striking visual imagery and whimsy.
