Immersive Education Series: ACT NATURALLY- Bringing yourself to the character in Immersive Work
The LEIA Education Committee is pleased to present it's first event in the Immersive Education Series, led by Lauren Ludwig of Capital W.

Since its inception in 2015, Capital W has cultivated a company of actors who bring their personal experiences and emotional truth to each piece. In this class, well do a mini-version of the Capital W development process, from auditions to rehearsal exercises to story development. At each step, we will focus on: bringing honesty and vulnerability to the work; bridging the gap between a script and the unscripted audience interactions; inviting the audience to bring their authentic selves to the work. Participants will leave the class with a practical toolbox of exercises they can utilize in their own work. Creators and performers are both welcome; in the work of Capital W, the gap between those roles is very small.

Lauren Ludwig is an award-winning director and writer working in film, television, and theater, and a founding member of the immersive theater company Capital W. Her adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet staged in a cargo van, Hamlet-Mobile, was included in the anthology Best Plays from American Theater Festivals 2015. Her work with Capital W has received rave reviews and won Best Overall Immersive Work at Hollywood Fringe 2017 and Best Game Design at IndieCade 2016. Lauren directs and co-founded the comedy group Lost Moon Radio, has performed across the US at variety of venues, including SF Sketchfest, the Broad Stage, South Coast Rep, and New Yorks Rockwood Music Hall. Lauren is the current Director of the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women. She is a passionate educator and has taught writing and performance classes across the country. She is also a founder and creative guide at Wayward, a Canadian retreat for women artists. Lauren is a graduate of Northwestern University and grew up in Syracuse, NY.
