Jackie Hoffman in Memoircita! Feud, Fame and Failure
Jackie is back on Fire Island with the premiere of Memoircita!, the new solo show by award-winning Broadway and TV star Jackie Hoffman. Most recently celebrated for her role as Mamacita in the hit FX miniseries FEUD: Bette and Joan.
Perhaps best known for making a public spectacle of herself at last year's Emmy Awards, Jackie Hoffman continues her downward spiral on Fire Island. Fresh off her fifth Broadway musical, this self-loathing scene stealer shares the inside dish on Broadway, filming FEUD: Bette and Joan, and all things Emmy.
Long on comic talent and vocal power, short on patience with many things (children included), actor and comedian Jackie Hoffman is one of the stage and screen's favorite scene stealers. After shining in supporting roles in Broadway's Hairspray, Xanadu, The Addams Family, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, she made the transition to leading lady in last year's critically-acclaimed off-Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress. She is also a fan favorite at New York's Joe's Pub, where she has performed a string of bawdy, vaudevillian solo shows including The Kvetching Continues, the venue's longest running show of all time. Fresh off her Emmy-nominated performance as Mamacita in FX's FEUD: Betty and Joan, the Theatre World Award and Obie Award-winning Hoffman takes over the Renberg for a night of show tunes, covers, original songs, and, as the New York Times called it, "kvetching on an operatic scale."
Music Director Bobby Peaco has been a well-respected member of the New York cabaret community for nearly 20 years, garnering nine MAC awards (presented by the Manhattan Association of Clubs and Cabarets) for his work in the piano bars, and six Bistro Awards presented by Back Stage.
JACKIE HOFFMAN is a New York based actress, singer, comedian, self-loathing Jew, who was last seen in the recurring role of Davids mother on NBCs The New Normal. She has been in the original Broadway casts of The Addams Family, Xanadu, and Hairspray, for which she won the Theatre World Award for most outstanding Broadway debut. Other Off-Broadway plays include A Chanukah Charol, The Tribeca Theatre Festival, The Gingerbread House, The Book of Liz, for which Jackie won the Obie award for best actress, Straightjacket, Incident at Cobblers Knob (Lincoln Center Theatre Festival) and One Woman Shoe. Regional Theatre: Chicago at the MUNY, The Sisters Rosensweig at the Globe Theatre. Jackie starred in six revues at The Second City theatre in Chicago, where she won the Jeff Award for Best Actress. Jackies solo shows at Joes Pub, all directed by Michael Schiralli, have all received tremendous critical acclaim. Her show The Kvetching Continues won Time Out New Yorks outstanding achievement award and was the longest running show in Joes Pubs history. Other solo shows: Jackie Five-Oh!, Chanukah at Joes Pub (Bistro Award), Scraping the Bottom, and Jackie with a Z. Jackie won a Mac Award in 2009 for Best Female Stand Up. She can be seen in the films Birdman, The Sitter, The Extra Man, How to Seduce Difficult Women, A Dirty Shame, Garden State, Legally Blonde II, Kissing Jessica Stein, and Mo Money. Her television appearances have included The New Normal, Raising Hope, Melissa and Joey, On We Go, 30 Rock, Starved, Hope and Faith, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Strangers with Candy, TV Funhouse, Late Night with Conan OBrien, Soulman, Cosby, as well as the voices for the cartoons High School USA, Family Guy, Dilbert, PB & J Otter, and the film Robots.
