Singing Through Spring: Music from Handel to Sondheim On Thursday May 3, 2018, members of the Boston Society of the New Jerusalems Vocal Ensemble will be giving their Spring Concert at 7:30PM. This event is free and open to the public. The program will include arias from Henry Purcells The Tempest, and George Frederick Handels Alcina and Semele; as well as songs from Clement Janequins Trente et une Chansons, Johann Sebastian Bachs Magnificant in D Major, Giuseppe Verdis Nabucco, and Georges Bizets Oure Ton Coeur. Movements from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Great Mass in C minor , and Carl Orffs Carmina Burana will also appear on this program, as well as some contemporary songs from Frank Henry Loessers Guys and Dolls, Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd, and Stephen Schwartzs Wicked, along with a few surprises!
This is a ticketed event. A full reception with sweet and savory treats will follow immediately after the performance. The concert will take place at Church on the Hill 140 Bowdoin Street, Beacon Hill (across the street from the Massachusetts State House).
