Frankenstein and Antigone
Frankenstein: Frankenstein centers around Victor Frankensteins journey from man to beast. By constantly attempting to control all aspects of the world around him, he sabotages his own happiness and destroys his personal relationships. He becomes the true monster of his own story and serves as a warning against a path of exclusion and violence. His downfall provokes us to question our own humanity in the wake of uncertainty and socio-political discord.
Antigone: Set against a backdrop of war and civil unrest, Antigone stands in protest against injustice and a feared political machine. The classic Greek tale of Antigone by Sophocles is filtered through the lens of 20th Century conflict and given new life and relevance in this stunning adaptation by Bertolt Brecht, one of the preeminent theatre-makers of the last century. Brechts Antigone is directed by Joe Hendren as a part of his senior capstone project in which he explores the ritual origins of theatre through classical Greek dramatic storytelling.
