This course is over three days held fortnightly on 3rd, 17th and 31st May. 10am until 4.30pm each day On this course you will learn some basic weaving techniques including randing, pairing, and waling.
You can either make several small functional item like birdfeeders, trays and simple baskets and/or decorative items like random weave balls, stars etc. or focuss on traditional round stake and strand baskets. On the last day you will be able to make something of your choice using the techniques learnt. This will be discussed in class and there will be examples and ideas of what you can make available, or you can make something of your own design.
This class is held in my studio and with only five people in each class these sessions are good for people who really want to know about basketry techniques, skills and materials. As well as being able to see first hand how the materials are prepared. There is also a possibility of a trip to our willow growing beds if requested. I also now have a library of basketry books full of ideas and possibilities in my studio for you to peruse during breaks.
Due to the small number of students and the need to prepare materials refunds will only be given up to three weeks before the class unless a replacement is found. Let me know if this is the case as I may have a waiting list.
