Any ticket bought after 5/3/18 may not receive a t shirt sized to fit as the shirt order has been placed.
This event allows kids aged 5-14 years of age to experience a popular outdoor activity without going to the mountains. All equipment and supplies are provided. Volunteers will be on hand to help make this event successful for every child.
A net will be install in the swim area by The Bathhouse Theater and stocked full of trout (while not guaranteed most kids will catch a fish). The volunteers will help with baiting hooks, netting fish, and such. This event is for the kids so parents please resist the urge to take over in all the excitement. Although helping is encouraged as the event will create an awesome memory together.
In order for the event to proceed smoothly and to help your child have a positive experience, please arrive 30 minutes before the start of your fishing time. This will allow plenty of time to check in and pick up the event T-Shirt with registration bag. Just before your scheduled fishing time, you and your child will hear a presentation about water safety and casting tips. Then as you walk towards the lake your child will receive a fishing pole. The fishing pole is a great beginner pole that your child will be able to keep and use again and again.
Fishing sessions last for 30 minutes or until 2 trout are caught. Once 30 minutes has passed or the 2 fish limit has been reached all kids and parents are to move to the fish cleaning station where volunteers working for tips will clean and bag the fish so you can take it home for dinner.
For a lot of kids this will be their first close up experience with the food chain.
This event is not possible without the sponsors. If you enjoyed the experience please take a moment to thank them. If every parent does this it will make the event more certain in following years.
This event is extremely popular and will sell out. Register early and tell your friends in order to secure your space. Space is very limited and can not be increased as the poles and fish were ordered in mid March.
The event is hosted by the Green Lake Chamber of Commerce and is a program through the C.A.S.T. Fishing Kids Organization. Both of which are non-profit / tax exempt organizations.
