Trad Camp is YTV's folk music and dance camp for kids and teens. Extraordinary instructors and professional musicians from the Burlington area teach traditional tunes and dances to kids aged 7 - 18, all experience levels welcome. The week includes daily lunchtime performances, special guests and evening events throughout the week and a final camper showcase, potluck and contra dance on Friday afternoon.
Trad Camp welcomes kids of all experience levels. During each class hour we offer a variety of tracks to accomodate those just learning how to hold a ukulele or the first steps to a West African dance, to those ready to play fiddle for four hours straight! We also mix in some arts and crafts and outdoor activities.
This year Trad Camp will take place at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School at 359 Turtle Lane in Shelburne, VT. The beautiful campus is a perfect fit for our space needs: five classrooms, one large room for everyone to gather, space for dancing, a safe and secure setting, plenty of outdoor green space and a reception area for greeting everyone each day.
This is a new location for us. One of the big selling points was the enthusiastic and active support for Trad Camp objectives by LCWS staff. We've done a variety of things with the school in the past and we're excited to continue to grow the partnership.
