Do you want to learn from the very best on how to help your dog reach his full potential and be a happy well adjusted family member? This is your opportunity!
Dog Gone Seattle is sponsoring a weekend seminar with the very talented Amy Pishner of Valor K9 Academy, who will be visiting us in Redmond, WA. This two-day seminar (Sat/Sun 9am-5pm) will cover topics including:
- Training Philosophy
- How dogs learn
- Foundation training skills
- Obedience and puppy training
- Behavioral rehabilitation
- Problem prevention and problem solving
We are offering this seminar to our valued fosters and volunteers to attend to learn how to better help the dogs we rescue. On that note, some additional topics that may be covered include:
- How to bring a shelter dog to your home - the importance of decompression, dog introductions, etc.
- How to read a dog's body language to prevent problems before they arise
- The importance of structure and boundaries
- Common problems such as dog/human reactivity, fearfulness, separation anxiety, resource guarding, and pulling on the leash
- How to help dogs with poor social skills
This is a seminar you don't want to miss!
For Dog Gone Seattle active Fosters and Volunteers, and Adopters (by invitation only) attendance is sponsored. For all other individuals, we are asking for a suggested donation to offset costs of hosting this seminar.
- Audit Attendance - $200
- Working Spot Attendance - $300
Working spots will be considered by application only, as we are limited to 10 spots and would like to have a variety of "problems" to address at this seminar. To request a working spot, please select a working spot ticket, and complete the questionnaire at checkout regarding your dog's issues. To supplement additional information, you may email jenny@doggoneseattle.org. If your dog is not accepted for a working spot, you can choose to audit the seminar and a difference in the price will be refunded.
Working Spots We will have room for up to ten dogs for "working spots" in this seminar. You can expect hands on work with Amy to help address the problems you are facing. All dogs will be required to be securely crated or otherwise secured when not being worked during the seminar. You will be required to sign a release form.
For any questions, please email jenny@doggoneseattle.org.
