Folks Like Us
This years Folks Like Us event introduces four new acts to the annual fundraiser while bringing back benefit co-founder Shojin Alford, who will perform with Erik Leveille as Cypress Dreams.
After featuring about a dozen acts each of the first three years, this years benefit will include just five acts performing for 20 minutes each. Performing will be Mile of Music alum R.J. Nordland, DePere singer songwriter Kurt Gunn, Walt Hamburger (who calls himself Appletons third most successful musician) and Auralai, a duo composed of Stephanie Tschech on vocals and cello and Nate Lehner on guitar. Each artist will be performing songs in the folk/acoustic rock genre.
The Folks Like Us name plays to the folk music theme while also encouraging the idea that whether one is homeless, unemployed, rich or poor, were all just people trying to make our way in the world. The show is set for Sunday, April 29, 2 to 5 p.m., at the OuterEdge Stage, 303 N. Oneida St., Appleton.
Cost is $12 for general admission or $25 for VIP seats in the first two rows. Tickets will also be available at the door.
This all-ages event is a perfect way to spend an early spring afternoon with some of the best entertainers in the Fox Valley. Mark your calendars and tell your friends . . . its all just folks like us!
