Put some showgirl tools in your toolbox with these skill workshops with burlesque artist Ruthe Ordare!

Choreography in 5, 6, 7, 8! Basics for the Dynamic Performer (90 minutes)

So, you found the perfect song! You can see it now: the costume the moves the reveals! Time to get to workbut where to start?! Choreography can be intimidating but it doesnt have to be! Ruthe Ordare will teach you her step-by-step approach to breaking down your music to create a foundation for building choreography. She will also discuss dynamics such as using your stage (big, small or awkward), using levels, the role of improv and reviewing your creation.

What to wear or bring: A notebook and a pen. This class is lecture based and does not require movement.

KISS: Keep It Simple Showgirl, Striptease 101 (60 minutes)

A striptease class to help those who find choreography overwhelming! We all strip our clothes off at the end of our day - so how do we add the tease? This class will focus on clothing removal while moving to your favourite music. There is no detailed choreography to remember, just feelin' the music and feelin' yourself! This class is beginner friendly and can accommodate those with limited mobility. Participants are asked to bring extra undergarments for practicing, they will be worn over top of work-out clothing. We will have a few extra items on site.
What to wear/bring: Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in, preferably form fitting. Class can be done in low dance heels (with an ankle strap) or bare feet. Please bring water.

These workshops offer knowledge applicable to many performance art forms, whether you're an aspiring burlesquer, seasoned showgirl, dancer, or just someone wanting to learn.
