AFP Luncheon, February 2018
Join us on Thursday, February 15 for a great luncheon and education session, "Ways To Help Your Board Ask For Money" presented by Marc A. Pitman.
Board members can be our best advocates and our best source for new donations. But they often aren't. They come to our meetings, often they donate, but they stop short of actually introducing others to our cause. Would you like to change that?
In this session, nonprofit executive coach Marc A. Pitman will share two ways we're hindering the process One involves how our use of story - or lack of it - may be self-sabotaging our outreach efforts. The other is how we might be able to better talk the "dialect" of individual board members.
You'll learn: Why board members who love your work likely aren't introducing it to their friends How power of story can help fix that 4 key questions that will help your board members feel confident referring your nonprofit to their friends How observed behaviors can help you learn to speak in a way that other board members will respond
People are complex and unique. But these strategies will help you get your board members being the most helpful advocates they can be.
Marc A. Pitman helps leaders, especially in nonprofits, lead their teams with more effectiveness and less stress. The author of "Ask Without Fear!®," he is the founder of The Concord Leadership Group and FundraisingCoach.com. He's also the executive director of TheNonprofitAcademy.com and an Advisory Panel member of Rogare, a prestigious international fundraising think tank.
Called "The Johnny Appleseed of Fundraising," Marc's expertise and enthusiasm engages audiences around the world and has caught the attention of media organizations as diverse as Al Jazeera, SUCCESS Magazine, and Fox News. Marcs experience also includes pastoring a Vineyard church, managing a gubernatorial campaign, and teaching internet marketing and fundraising at colleges and universities. On Twitter, he is @marcapitman.
He is the husband to his best friend and the father of three amazing kids. And if you drive by him on the road, hell be singing 80s tunes loud enough to embarrass his family!
