ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
In this six-week workshop, Artist Trust Program Director Brian McGuigan covers the essentials artists of all disciplines need to apply for grants, residencies, calls for submissions, and other opportunities. In-class exercises and discussion will help you better understand application processes, prepare application materials, and find the right opportunities for your work. At the end of the class, you'll have an artist statement, resume, biography, and other parts of a successful application, and be ready to pursue support for your work.

*This workshop is open to artists of all disciplines and is ideal for artists applying for Artist Trusts GAP Awards or other grants, residencies, and opportunities and for artists who would like to improve their artist statements and artist resumes, application skills, or portfolio components.

ABOUT THE VENUE
The venue for this workshop is wheelchair accessible and can be accessed by Metro transit and the Light Rail. The venue has identified as a non-scent-free space with gendered bathrooms. This workshop is service dog friendly. It is not child friendly.

Partial need-based, Filipinx, and Latinx scholarships available by request.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Brian McGuigan is the Program Director at Artist Trust overseeing the funding and artist support programs for artists of all disciplines across Washington State. Before coming to Artist Trust, Brian worked at Hugo House for a decade where he co-founded and curated the popular reading series, Cheap Wine & Poetry and Cheap Beer & Prose. He's also moonlighted as the director of Lit Crawl Seattle, an ambassador at On the Boards, and an event organizer for a slew of arts organizations in Seattle. For his work in the arts, The Stranger shortlisted Brian for their Genius Award in Literature in 2010, and in 2011, City Arts named him one of Seattle's Power 50 Culture Makers. When he's not working for artists, Brian's a writer himself. His essays have appeared in Gawker, Salon, The Stranger, The Rumpus, and elsewhere, and he has received support from 4Culture, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. He's currently at work on a memoir.

REFUND POLICY
Artist Trust reserves the right to cancel any program. If cancelled, a full refund will be applied. If a participant needs to cancel for a paid program, the following policy will apply:
- A full refund can be issued through Brown Paper Tickets if notified 5 days prior to the program date.
- Artist Trust cannot provide refunds for missed classes. Please contact the coordinator if you have any questions regarding specific content of the workshop.

These refund policies are in place because workshops have limited space and this is intended to ensure we are able to offer the space to another attendee if notice is provided far enough in advance.
