WORKSHOP: Monoscene with Laura Manasawich

One scene, in real time, no edits. Sounds simple, right? In this workshop, we break down what makes a monoscene work. We'll dive into creating thoughtful characters with strong beliefs, building a strong environment with lots to explore, and establishing a strong base reality in order to open the floodgates for fun surprises. We'll work on adding stakes, interacting with our location, committing to choices and creating a believable world that actors and audience alike will want to explore. This workshop will focus on the importance of listening, patience, pacing and work together.

Students should have at least 1-2 years of longform improv experience

About Laura:
Laura Manasewich is the Associate Artistic Director at Sea Tea Comedy Theater. She is a member of the house teams Romantic Baby (monoscene), Grantch (Armando), and Sea Tea Ensemble and Touring Company. Laura has performed with Sea Tea all over the northeast and beyond. Laura has trained at Hartford Stage, Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC. She's also studied with Improv Boston, Second City, and Gotham Writers Workshop. Laura routinely writes and performs in sketch comedy shows at Sea Tea. She is the host of the monthly CT Improv Mixer and also the monthly Stand Up Showcase.
Laura is an instructor for Sea Tea Improv. She teaches all levels from advanced monoscene to Intro to Improv.
