Missouri AAIDD 2018 Spring Conferences
Missouri is one of six states that is currently implementing and testing The HealthMatters ProgramTM to build capacity for creating health-friendly services for individuals with IDD. Over the past 10 years HealthMatters has reached over 10,000 individuals and caregivers in 33 states and 9 countries. The creators of the HealthMatters ProgramTM, Dr. Beth Marks and Dr. Jasmina Sisirak, will provide a seminar about using the lessons learned from the HealthMatters ProgramTM to:
1. Identify organizational needs and capacity for health promotion. 2. Generate relevant questions and actively participate in developing and implementing research and service learning initiatives. 3. Apply research and service learning results for use in practical activities. 4. Connect with local community in cooperative experiences to promote health of people with DD. 5. Disseminate evidence-based health promotion products and trainings.
This will be an interactive workshop for service providers, family members, and individuals with IDD to share experiences and win door prizes (HealthMattersTM books and Consultation Hours).
