"Uncovering Treasures of Body, Speech, and Mind." With Meredith Monk, Lanny Harrison and Acharya Judy Lief
"The posture of speech is to sing melodiously of experience." Machig Labron
In this workshop, we will explore together the question of how to develop true and genuine expression. We will deepen our understanding of the power of sound and voice and its connection to meditative awareness. We will explore the arising of speech from silence, moving from the body and breath to sounds, words, and language. Topics include the interplay of nonverbal sound with words, language, and meaning, the uplifting of the voice in chanting as parallel to the uplifting of posture in sitting practice, the play of masculine and feminine energies in language, and the paring down of expression into single powerful syllables.
This workshop will include meditation practice, sound and voice exercises, dialogues and discussions. Open to all. No previous experience required.
