SCOTT JORDAN AND JOHN THOMAS IN CONCERT
Since his first performances in the 1980s, Scott Jordans voice has been an instrument of celebration, perseverance, and remembering. He turns well-loved melodies into songs of experience. His life is epic, writes director Moises Kaufman, in every sense of the word. And hes returning to the stage with pianist John Thomas to share those songs again.
Jordan debuted as a cabaret artist in New York and Provincetown during the early 80s. He worked the stages of Good Times, The Duplex, Upstairs at Roses Turn and Don't Tell Mama. As HIV progressed, he became less visible as a performer so he re focused his energy in producing benefits, raising money for organizations that served both woman and men with chronic health problems and soup kitchens. Homeless himself from 1980-81, he felt compelled to help those who suffer as he did. " I was lifted out of life on the streets by those who had been there too. I feel a responsibility to help pay it forward. I'm no different than anyone. Health, homelessness and chronic disease are not prejudice.
Jordan took his act national shortly afterward. He performed in Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, among many other cities, and caught the attention of writers for the Boston Globe, New York Times, Daily News, Provincetown Banner, the Advocate magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, and dozens of others. Jordan also discovered a talent for the written word and became a professional comedy writer.
He has waged a lifelong Battle with mental illness, specifically bipolar disorder which he chronicles in his book, Gibberish: A Bipolar Survival Story , a popular download on Amazon. Now Jordan is taking the stage again, revisiting songs that have been the soundtrack to a complex and surprising, but ultimately joyous life. From the Beatles and Elvis, through Kitty Wells and the Great American Songbook, Jordan finds unexpected nuances and emotions in the classic and iconic.
He hosted and associate produced GMHC Incs Cable TV show under the tutelage of Director Jean Carlomustos ( HBOs Love and Anger ) and consulted and appeared in the first AIDS education video Sex, Drugs and AIDS with Actress Rae Dawn for the NYC Board of Health This led to appearances on the Phil Donahue show and NBC Nightly News , Nightline. And a barrage of other shows as controversy swirled around the board refusing to show the film because it Didnt say enough about abstinence

This is what critics have said about John Thomas:
"John Thomas is a busy man. His interests as a musician are wide, varied, and unbound. - Rebecca M. Alvin, The Music Men of Provincetown, Provincetown Magazine (Oct 29, 2015)
The glow surrounding Thomas as he performs is a reflection of the joy the classically trained pianist (who is also a composer and music director) gives to others. Inspiring a circle of goodwill through music is what keeps him moving forward. - Susan Rand Brown, Music in the moment, Provincetown Banner (September 3, 2015)
