SDC Fire Recovery Walk Series
Join Sonoma Ecology Center staff to learn to see the land rebound on Sonoma Developmental Center (SDC) property, part of which burned in the October wildfires. We will be watching for special "fire follower" wildflowers, assessing burned trees and learning how to interpret fire-affected landscapes. Discussion questions include: Why did this happen? What does it mean? How do we prepare for it happening again?
SCHEDULED WALKS: -Saturday, March 10, 10am-12pm
Participants will meet at Sonoma Ecology Center's office in the Sonoma Developmental Center near Glen Ellen. Directions will be provided upon registration.
We will be walking approximately 2 miles over mostly flat terrain on a trail, however there a few short but steep inclines with loose rock and one fallen tree to step over. Please wear sturdy footwear, and bring trekking poles if you typically use them.
Please watch our events calendar as we will add more walks in various locations throughout Sonoma Valley! https://www.sonomaecologycenter.org/events/.
This series is supported by the Sonoma Valley Ecological Fire Relief Fund. Donations to this fund dedicated to fire education, active response, and prevention are gratefully accepted!
