Conversations at Canyon Moon: Global Climate...Going, Going, Gone! with Dr. Bruce Hungate, PhD.
Season X continues the popular and thought-provoking series Conversations with guest speakers discussing topics that are compelling and timely to the community.
Each evening begins with a conversation between the guest speaker and the host, followed by a question-and-answer period with the audience. Evenings close with coffee and dessert in the lobby, giving audience members the opportunity to meet with the speakers one on one and to discuss the ideas presented during the evening with each other.
Global Climate...Going,Going,Gone! Dr. Bruce Hungate is Director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Western Regional Center of the National Institute for Climate Change Research. He is a professor at Northern Arizona University's Department of Biology Sciences and a researcher from NAU's Merriam Powell Center for Environmental Research of Southern California. Dr. Hungate's area of expertise is ecosystem processes, particularly biogeochemical responses to global changes, such as rising atmospheric carbon dioxide, climate change and altered land use. Of his work, he says, "It's rewarding to shape the future of climatic research." He earned a B.A. in music and English from Stanford University, a B.S. in biological sciences, and a Ph.D. from University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Hungate's passion is raising awareness of the role of earth system science in managing global environmental change.
