Laser engraver introduction
The engraving laser can etch beautiful, detailed, grayscale or black and white images on leather or wood. It can also cut some leather, cardboard, paper, felt and fabric. The laser has a 15.5" x 27.5" engraving area. It uses a 2.5 watt 450nm laser diode. It can trace SVGs and DXFs using InkScape. It does grayscale rastering and vectoring with filling using LaserGRBL.
We will learn: - How to talk to the GRBL controller. - How to setup our cut. - How to create Laser Gcode from InkScape. - How to create Laser Gcode from LaserGRBL.
All the software and plugins we are going to use are free. There will always be a computer attached to the laser with this software. If you would like to experiment with them before the class,, feel free to download: Laser GRBL - http://lasergrbl.com/ InkScape - https://inkscape.org/en/ Laser vector plugin - https://jtechphotonics.com/?page_id=2012 Laser BW raster plugin https://github.com/305engineering/Inkscape
