Volunteer Deep Dish

Have you ever watched another Cooking Matters instructor effortlessly lead the best lesson ever? Do you have tips and tricks of your own you'd like to share? Spend the morning with some of our most experienced instructors learning how to impart your knowledge and talents to Cooking Matters participants.

Chefs and nutritionists will participate in separate, two-hour sessions in the morning, followed by a combined training over - what else? - a healthy deep dish lunch. We will take you step by step through a typical Cooking Matters lesson, offering teaching techniques, troubleshooting tips, and advice on how to use your natural talents to be the best teacher you can be. All lessons will be interactive and include plenty of time for questions and feedback.

The training sessions will be led by Sara Marin, former nutrition education manager of the Alameda County Food Bank and one of our first Cooking Matters instructors, and Claudia Ossa, a veteran teacher with eight Cooking Matters under her belt. Join us!
