Brent Arnold: Sunrise
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans is director F.W. Murnau's 1927 masterpiece of expressionist cinema. To complement a screening of this silent film, composer Brent Arnold will perform live his new original score for the film, featuring cello and looped electronic processing to get an incredible variety of unexpected tones and textures. The music ranges from plaintive solo cello to huge orchestrated sections to surreal, experimental sonics that compliment the film's groundbreaking cinematography. Arnold's music can also be heard on Louis CK's TV show Louie, and he has worked with artists as varied as Modest Mouse, DJ/rupture, Sleater-Kinney, Reggie Watts, Eyvind Kang, and Death in Vegas.
