SSPGC November 15, 2017 Luncheon Meeting
SSPGC 11/15/17 Meeting: Charitable Life Estates from the legal, accounting and charity points of view.
A Charitable Life Estate is one of the more interesting gifting subjects in our arsenal of charitable donations. How is it possible to give a gift of an asset now, while still using the asset until death or until it is no longer possible for the donor to use it?
The Ins and Outs of Charitable Life Estates will be discussed by our three presenters: - Todd Blodgett JD, Eisenhower & Carlson, Estate Planning Attorney - Diane Stoehr CPA, The Doty Group, Shareholder - Doug Page CAP, Pacific Lutheran University, Executive Director of Gift Planning
How do you legally set up a Life Estate? How does that work out for the donor and the charity from a tax and accounting perspective? What should the recipient charity know about tracking the gift, accounting for it and especially stewarding the gift giver?
Our three presenters will leave you with a much better idea of how to utilize and talk about a Charitable Life Estates. Youll be surprised at how often this gift is being used to accomplish both living and testamentary gifts to charity.
