Tatnall Playbill - The Addams Family
Tatnalls 2017 Playbill production, The Addams Family, is a fabulously funny and macabre musical comedy based on the popular 60s TV show. In the creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky world of the Addams Family, a major crisis is brewing. Daughter Wednesday, the original Princess of Darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a man her parents have never met. Her boyfriend, Lucas Beineke, comes from an upright and somewhat uptight Ohio family and, even worse, the romance has transformed the always gloomy Wednesday into a cheery optimist, leaving her family perplexed and distressed. Comic chaos ensues as the two families meet and clash during a dinner party, forcing everyone to question what it means to be normal vs. weird.
The original 2010 Broadway production won numerous awards including the Drama League Award and Drama Desk Award and ran for 722 performances. The show was written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elise, authors of Jersey Boys, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, the award winning composer of The Wild Party.
