Karl Kruger R2AK
Please join us for an evening with Karl Kruger, first person to complete the R2AK (Race to Alaska) on a stand-up paddle board (SUP). R2AK is a 750 mile human powered vessels no motor, no support race from Port Townsend, WA to Ketchikan, AK
Karl lives on a sailboat on Orcas Island, a highly experienced sailor, he could have done the race on a sailboat, with a crew, and been in the running for the $10,000 first place prize. Listen as Karl tells why he chose instead to challenge himself to do the distance solo on a stand-up paddle board, and completed it in just over two weeks, experiencing whale encounters, bioluminescent night paddles, and stormy seas along the way. A lifelong adventurer, and avid storyteller, this is a presentation you don't want to miss!
Doors open at 6:00pm presentation starts at 7:00, followed by a Q&A period. Tickets $15 for general public ($10 Elks Members) Additional Donations welcome.
This is a fundraiser to benefit the Secret Beach knotweed eradication with a portion of the proceeds donated to a Ballard Elk's charitble cause.
