Event
Two House Museums, Three Murders
House museums have their own mysterious allure...and possibly spiritual residue from the people who once lived there. Author Erika Mailman discusses melding fact and fiction as she launches her new novel The Murderer's Maid: a Lizzie Borden Novel. The event takes place at the haunted Pardee Home Museum in downtown Oakland, where she will give a slide show about the home as well as the Lizzie Borden B&B in Massachusetts, talking about house museums, preservation, and murder.
The event includes wine, light refreshments, a brief walk through the home, and the chance to get books signed. Laurel Book Store will be on site with copies of The Murderer's Maid for sale. Mailman will also talk about House of Bellaver, a novel set in a fictionalized version of the Pardee Home, available as an ebook.
Join like-minded history buffs and book lovers at a fun evening at the house of George Pardee, an early California governor. Erika's website is www.erikamailman.com and the Pardee Home's site is www.pardeehome.org. You may wish to read House of Bellaver beforehand to make your visit more meaningful: http://amzn.to/2sGz7VH
