Perfect Liars Club presents How to Tell Funnier Stories with Jeff Simmermon
Aimed at storytellers and comics with some stage time under their belt, this workshop provides tools and insight on how to make your stories funnier; how to use humor to control the tone in more serious stories; and how to improve your timing and phrasing so your jokes work every time. Bring 5-7 minutes worth of material to workshop with Jeff and your classmates and leave with a tighter, more polished, and more hilarious piece.

About Jeff Simmermon

Jeff Simmermon is a New York-based storyteller and stand-up comic with deep roots in DC. He is the producer/performer behind 'And I Am Not Lying,' a variety show that combines stand-up, storytelling, burlesque, sideshow and music on the second Friday of every month at UCB East in New York City.

He just released his first comedy album, And I Am Not Lying, recorded live at the Black Cat. It debuted at number one on the iTunes comedy charts in June 2017. The album will be released on pink vinyl and distributed by DCs Dischord Records in mid-November.

Jeff has won multiple Moth StorySLAMS, including a GrandSLAM in March of 2014. His stories have appeared on This American Life, The Moth's podcast, and in written form on The Paris Review Daily.

About Perfect Liars Club

Launched in 2013, Perfect Liars Club quickly became one Washington, DC's hottest storytelling nights. The show's premise is simple but unique: Four people tell four stories. All are captivating, but only three are true. Listen. Laugh. Suspect. Interrogate. Vote. Are you shrewd enough to spot the liar?

The stories are hilarious but the interrogation is even better: you never know what questions will be asked or what evidence will be demanded of our storytelling suspects by the audience in its determined quest to spot the liar.
