Theatreland: Backstage Stories
Covent Garden is bursting with scandalous and fascinating behind-the-scenes stories. On this tour well traverse the cobbled streets and discover the rich architectural, political, and theatrical history it has to offer. Well kick off with Inigo Jones Actors Church, famed for Punch and Judy and My Fair Lady, where actors have been baptised and buried for centuries. Well make our way to the Royal Opera, Theatre Royal and Lyceum, learning how this area magically transformed across the 17th and 18th centuries from London slum to internationally renowned Theatreland. Some of theatres most intriguing characters include David Garrick, William Hogarth, and Nell Gwyn, an original pin-up girl, actress and courtesan to King Charles II! This not-so-humble abode of thespians, musicians and writers alike has such a glittering history, youll leave this tour dancing in the street!
*If you have bought more than one Art Shot ticket you can either split them up and come on a number of different Art Shots, or you can give tickets to friends to join the same Art Shot as you. Please email office@arthistoryuk.com to tell us how you'd like to use your Art Shot tickets.
*Cancellation Policy
If you cancel within a week of the event, half the cost of the tour will be refunded. If you cancel within 24 hours of the tour, we regret that we will not be able to refund any of the cost. Please note that we can only run this tour if we have an attendance of 5 people. If we have to cancel the tour we will give one week's notice.
