The Sun is God: A Winter Warmer with JMW Turner
Beat those cold January blues and warm up in the worlds largest collection of JMW Turner paintings. As we wander through Tate Britains Clore Gallery, well be immersed by the yellow and orange hues of Turners skylines. We will learn why Turner is internationally regarded as the painter of light. Whether it is the soft light of dawn, the stark brilliance of midday, or the intense vibrancy of sunset, JMW Turners light-drenched paintings demonstrate his obsessed experimentation with light and colour. Alongside shockingly loose brushwork, his contemporaries were stunned by this luminous palette, leading John Ruskin to label him the father of modern art. Join us on this whirlwind Turner tour and understand exactly what Ruskin meant!
