Speyer Hall at University Settlement
New York, NY

December 14- 17 at University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, New York, NY 10002:  Dance Visions NY, Inc., Long Island's celebrated dance company, under the direction of Beth Jucovy, brings Isadora Duncan's artistic legacy into the present through the performance of authentic Isadora Duncan repertory as well as through presentation of original works that use Duncan principles to inform the movement approach. www.dancevisionsny.org

Highlights of this program include rarely-seen works of Isadora Duncan that are particularly relevant in today's political climate: the company's critically celebrated staging of Duncan's "Russian Workers Songs,"  and two Scriabin Etudes: The Crossing and The Revolutionary Etude, as had been passed on directly by Julia Levien. Other Duncan repertory that will be included are works that highlight Duncan's strong affinity for nature and her philosophy of humanism and hope, also so relevant in todays world. In addition, the concert will feature Beth Jucovy's original works that have Duncan principles at their core. Her most recent work, "Through the Portals" incorporates artist Susan Ruth Cohen's paintings as portals into worlds of color and relationship. The artwork is projected behind and onto the bodies of the dancers. Another Jucovy work "Blurred Boundaries" is a look at responses to death and the sense of existence on different planes.

Aside from Ms Jucovy, dancers include veteran Duncan Dance master Adrienne Ramm and Danielle Atkinson, Anastasia Benedetti, Louisa Cathcart, Vanessa Ferranti, Ligia Gaissonek, I-Nam Jiemvitayanukoon, Hope Kroog, Laura Marciano, Shannon McMullan, Rebekah Mulkey, Elena Notkina and Hyo Jin Rim.
