Jean Louisa Kelly "For My Folks" ... A CD Release Celebration
Jean Louisa Kelly is an actress/singer/dancer known to audiences for her versatility and grace on the stage and the big and small screens. As a child she performed professionally as Annie in summer stock theatres in New England, making her way to the original Broadway cast of Into the Woods at age 15.
When she was 16, she starred opposite John Candy in the John Hughes classic film Uncle Buck. After attending Columbia College in New York City, she charmed audiences as Rowena Morgan opposite Richard Dreyfuss in Mr. Hollands Opus, and as Luisa with Joel Grey in Michael Ritchies MGM/UA film version of The Fantasticks.
In addition to starring as Kim Warner in the long running CBS sitcom Yes, Dear, she has been featured in several movies and scripted series made for television, including a recurring role on Mad About You.
Entering motherhood, she experienced a rebirth of creativity and started composing music. Her first album of original songs, Color of Your Heart, was a collection of songs for kids of all ages, inspired by Marlo Thomas record Free to Be You and Me. She has since released two EPs entitled Willing and Relax, Nothing is Under Control. Two of her original singles, Dont Give Up and Valley of Fire, were written for and included in feature films in which she acted.
She can soon be seen on the silver screen in the feature films The Bachelors, starring J.K. Simmons, and The Neighbor, starring William Fichtner.
Her latest album, For My Folks, is a collection of timeless standards and a tribute to her parents for their gifts of time, support and love. Her concert appearance of "For My Folks" marks her solo debut at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal.
