September Chapter Meeting

Katherine Darnstandt, AIA, will present a case study focused on the process development of Boombox, Chicagos first pop-up retail development. As startups improve cities and neighborhoods, Boombox has brought together small businesses, artists, and community organizations who have embraced the pop-up retail model and gave them a peek at what the future may look like. Tracing the project from inception to installation, she will dive into the policy and design constraints that shaped the project offering insight into design, risk, project financing, and prefab construction methods as well as narratives from the community.
