West End Community Yard Sale
Vendor Spots Available!
Join us for one of the largest yard sales in the city! Hosted by the Attic Thrift Store, the West End Community Yard Sale takes place on Saturday, August 12th from 10:00am-4:00pm in the Lord Roberts Schoolyard at the intersection of Comox Street and Cardero Street.
Last year the sale attracted 1,000 attendees and featured over 40 vendors with unique items such as clothing, tools, antiques, crafts, and household items. This year the event will feature music performances and Holy Smokes will be selling hot dogs on site.
We host the sale to: provide an opportunity to showcase unique vendors, generate awareness for our two thrift stores, raise funds for Gordon Neighbourhood House (GNH), and connect with our neighbours and Members.
Vendor spots are still available for $20, and an additional $5 for a table. Payments can be paid in person at Gordon Neighbourhood House (1019 Broughton Street), or online using this ticket processing site. Please note that we require all vendors to agree to a waiver as well. Email westendcommunityyardsale@gmail.com for more information.
Outreach and Awareness: Like all of our programs and initiatives at GNH we diversify our advertising and outreach efforts. To better engage the surrounding community, we have: Printed and distributed over 150 posters and 250 flyers Listed the sale twice in our online newsletter which reaches over 4,000 monthly subscribers Placed ads in four editions of the Westender newspaper Posted the event on our Facebook pages with over 5,000 followers Social media ads targeting people living in the four major West End, Coal Harbour, Downtown, and Yaletown postal codes, as well as those interested in topics such as: Shared the event with online listings, including: Daily Hive, Georgia Straight, Miss 604
Accessibility Details: While the site is wheelchair accessible, the surface has uneven pavers that could be an obstacle to mobility devices or those with balance issues. A gender neutral portable toilet and handwashing station will be available. Participants are encouraged to reduce the use of scented products such as cologne and perfumes. We acknowledge that we are on the unceded, occupied, ancestral and traditional lands of the Swxwú7mesh (Squamish), Xmkwym (Musqueam), and Slílwta (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. It is important for us to also recognize the historical and ongoing colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples that make it possible for us to be here as settlers.
We have created a Facebook event page for participants and guests to keep up with the latest updates, and would like to encourage you to click that you will be attending and invite your friends. https://www.facebook.com/events/1789251434663505/
